I have played with trains since I was a little boy but as I got older and started to work, trains just became transport until much later.

When my son, Symon was about 5, I bought him his first train set in HO, well for me as well, and like so many others nailed the track to some plywood and started adding mountains, trees etc. After about 4 weeks my son lost interest and so did I, but with regret...

needed background and inspiration, so I read all the books and magazines I could get my hands on and started visiting old railroads that have been transformed into tourist attractions and museums. This has given me ideas that I have tried to express on my models.

Since then, I have moved several times and have converted my model to fit the space that was available in the new digs.

Last year (2008) I was lucky enough to be able to convert my loft in the south of France to become the new home of my model train - the good news is that I have a lot of space, the bad news is I need to transport my 2 models, one from Paris and the other in Denver Colorado. This process has started but I am going to need many more months before I can set them up. (I have a plan to join them together).
